| Ron's Chaos Space Marine about to jump out of cover. |
It has been a busy summer between traveling for work and for the family vacation to attend my nephew's wedding in Greece. But Ron and I have managed to get in a few games of Kill Team with today being games 6 and 7. Ron is leading the league 4 games to nil so far. There is still plenty of time left (I hope) for me to try and even it up a bit but so far, I can't out right win one. Today I thought I won game 7. I was cleaning Ron's clock with my mix of primaris and tactical marines and literally had him down to one marine left in turn 3 (we play 4 turns). My objective was to get 2 of my guys off his end zone (see
this post for our board layouts to include the end zone). I was well within range of getting pretty much all my team off when I decided to walk my Plasma Gun marine up to take out his final marine. Reaction fire from Ron and boom, Plasma dude down. No sweat, Ron was done with Command Points so I waltzed off my second marine to secure my objective. I knocked off his last model right after that so I was ecstatic and was writing it down in our journal as a win (I mean I tabled him right!?). I asked Ron what was his mission and he said, "Assassinate" and then I asked, "which model?" to which he replied...."Plasma dude"...Arrrrgggghhhh!!! So a draw once again. Oh well....fun all the same. It's sort of like the fishing motto...a bad day of pushing models around is better than a good day in the office, right?
Terrain and Symmetry
 |
| Board layout for today's games. |
I'm always looking for stuff to use as terrain. Yesterday as my wife and I were driving around, we came across a part of road that was all torn up with chunks of asphalt laying around. I stopped the car, jumped out and scooped up a bunch and put it in the car. Thankfully, my wife is very forgiving of me for my hobby (as are my kids) and is used to seeing me jump out and dive into construction dumpsters (great place to find terrain!) and stuff so no worries there. The stuff worked out perfectly! A bit heavy so will need to figure out where to store them later.
The symmetry part comes in from Ron...when he comes over, he looks at the board, nods in approval then mutters, "very symmetrical." To which I always say that I just placed stuff on the board. But after he showed me that it looks like I roll a dice then place the terrain in the shape of the dots, I can get it.
Looking at the dice above, the layout does look that way. I guess, without even knowing it, I place stuff on the board symmetrically (most of the time). Hmmm. Oh well. I will try something different for our next game. We'll see how it turns out.
