Kill Team Board Layout

Our Kill Team board layout and deployment zones
My friend is the rules/missions guy for our games of Kill Team with me playing the role of doubtful Thomas and questioning everything ad nauseam until we get a rule set we both feel fits the bill.  After nearly a year of doing this for Kill Team, we've created a really cool and brutal game that fits our playing styles and captures the "sweaty palms" experience we had with our games of Space Hulk.  We also came to the realization that our games are not really exportable to a larger audience.  The whys and wherefores of each of the mechanics would not be evident to anyone else.

After a few iterations of games, my friend came up with a board size of 3 feet by 2 feet (91.44cm x 60.96cm).  We played the official Games Workshop size for a bit, then he came up with a 2 foot x 2 foot size before moving to the final 3'x2' size.  Each change involved a bunch of discussion, play testing, more discussion, etc. before finalizing it.  I have to say the latest layout works out really well.

The "End Zone" at each end is for missions that require that you get x number of models off the opponents end of the board.  Sometimes it is after accomplishing a certain objective whereas you need to get one model off or getting a certain number of models off.

This upcoming weekend's board layout

Each game also has 3 objective markers set along the 36" center line.  These are static and their positions don't change.  Missions are rolled in secret by each player so having static objectives isn't an issue as most of the time, we are going for different ones.

I'll write up our game the results of our game this upcoming weekend.  My friend is bringing some awesomely converted Chaos Space Marines plus all other kinds of mayhem.  Since I don't think I will have my Tau team done in time, I will go with my Subterrane team from Blackstone Fortress.  No matter how they do, they look cool in my book!
