We didn't get any gaming in this past weekend so I decided to work on building another kill team! Yup, that is one of the things that I really like about the game is that you can "sample" a lot of different factions without investing a ton of time and money into the endeavor. Our games typically involve 5 to 6 models so the investment is quite low. Don't like the way they turned out or play, it doesn't sting to shelve them and try something else.

My Tau Kill Team built and ready to be primed.
I've always liked the look of Tau armies. The sleek design and clean lines just make them look cool to me. Since I love dreadnoughts, the battlesuit line looks particularly bad ass. I have no idea of the back story or how they actually play but the cool factor outweighs that for me.

Primed!
I told my friend that I wasn't going to be able to prime the team because it was raining. But I managed to get a quick prime in with a break in the rain. I can prime indoors with my airbrush but I wasn't in a terrible rush to get started as I am waiting on my order of a XV25 Stealth Battlesuit that I ordered via Amazon. I had gone to our local Warhammer Store down the road to look for one but they didn't have it in stock. The comment that the manager made to me absolutely floored me! "Yeah, I wish we had them in stock, they are very popular. But you can order it here." What!? If it is that popular, why don't you order a bunch? That seems to be a standard story with GW...we know a game/model is extremely popular and they will sell like hot cakes, but we are only going to make a limited number. Huh? Oh well. My friend checked our FLGS while he was there but no joy there either.

My Friend's Chaos Space Marine with War Hounds!
And my friend decided to also start a new team. This time Chaos Space Marines. With dogs no less! We'll see how this turns out. They do look cool though. At the rate that I paint, I don't expect to be ready to play my Tau team this upcoming weekend. I hope to get them done soon though. You can see my friend's progress on his stuff over at

The XV25 Stealth Battlesuit WIP
Update: I got the XV25 Stealth Battlesuit Monday evening. I got a little time to start putting one together (there are 3 in the box) and was a bit surprised on the size. I guess I never actually saw one of these in real life and thought it would be bigger. The Battlesuits that I have seen are all the big ones so I assumed this would be more like a primaris Space Marine. My friend helpfully pointed out that the Tau as a race are small so the XV25 is in line with that. Oh well. Still a cool model. Now to test out a paint scheme!
He's small, but I just realized he's a completely different shape from the other guys. Like a Terminator is to a regular Marine. They're the same size, but very distinct looking. I think he'll be fine once painted.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. The shape does set him apart from the other guys. I'm hoping I can pull off the scheme that I want. More to follow!
