Alternative Projects

Black Sun Miniatures Barbarian
A couple of years ago I branched out from painting just Games Workshop miniatures to try my hand and painting larger scale models for display purposes only.  The first one I did was the Orc Brave by Ouroboros Miniatures which really challenged me.

I had to create a tree from scratch, make a base/plinth for the model before even starting on assembling and painting the actual model.  All in all, I really enjoyed the project and was very happy with the end result.

Completed model, plinth and all
So I decided to try another one as a break in the routine, so to speak, of painting GW 40K models and try my hand at another model that I've always liked...the Black Sun Barbarian.  Still in the base/plinth creation phase but I am liking how it is turning out.

Anyway, I think it is good to insert a "break" project from your normal stream of projects.  It is just plain fun and there is no pressure to get it done.
